John 10:11 "I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays
down His life for the sheep.
There are the words of Jesus. He is our Good
Shepherd. We are His sheep. Will see what does as the good shepherd herd of our
souls
- He
learns us
“I know my sheep” “He call his own sheep by name.”
as the good shepherd of our souls, the Lord Jesus Christ knows our names, our
dispositions, our desires, our aims, our abilities, our faults, the degrees of
consecration, and all that is to be known.
- He
Love us
“I lay down my life for the sheep.” That tells the
extents of the love of Christ fro sinners. “Christ died for our sins according
to the scriptures.” “God commended his love toward us, in that while we are yet
sinners, Christ died for us.” He loves us. His love is supreme and eternal.
- He
Leads us
“Leaded them out” “When he put forth his own sheep,
he go before them.” What a joy and satisfaction to follow such Leader! we
follow him for we know his voice. He leads us by his presence, by His words,
and by impression. He is the Good shepherd, and his own should follow him.
- He
longs for us
“I am known of mine.” He longs that we should know
him. “Learn of me.” As hi s sheep we “know his voice” and follow him becauee we
know he desires that we be near Him. He longs to protect His own from dangerous
enemies, longs to lead his own to green pastures, and longs to lead His own
with rich food from heaven.
- He
Lives for us
“I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly.” “Because I live, you shall live also.” I give
unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man
pluck them out of my hand.” He lives for us. In him we may live forever.
