Christian Ministry

2 Timothy 4:1-8.

There are five important aspects of the Christian ministry.

1.      Call to serve God in Christian Ministry.

In verse 2. Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. Here we can clearly understand that we are call to preach the gospel, not only which needs to prepare in bringing out the gospel in times of all circumstance, but need to be alert in the time of persecution. In the time of difficulty and problem we have overcome all and present the gospel.

2.      Context that is involved in Christian Ministry.

In verse 3, we can see that we have to teach according to their understanding. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,”  

3.      Cost that is involved in Christian Ministry.

Verse 5 &6, “But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.  ⁶ For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come” doing the work of God is not in vain, we have to serious everything in life. We have to endure hardship, temperate in any circumstances, at last we will be reward we will receive the cost which we are involved in the ministry of God.

4.      Completion involved in Christian Ministry.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; doing the work will not end in this earth. But when Our Lord Jesus appear in the second time, all the work will be accomplish, but, still then we have to work faithfully according to the will of God.

5.      Crown that involved in Christian Ministry.

In verse 8, it is clearly state that “in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” When all the work is done we will be reward the crown of righteousness. Especially, to the people who are accepting Jesus as their personal savior, and working faithfully for his ministry.

            So it is our time to do good work for Our Lord Jesus. Let’s not idle in doing the ministry. While the time is here let’s take burden for the ministry and try to reach as fast as possible.
