Colossians 3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep
seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of
God. 2 Set your mind on the
things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life
is hidden with Christ in God. 4
When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with
Him in glory.
1.
Raise
with Christ
“Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep
seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.”
Here the scripture talks about the risen of Christ. If Christ is not risen from
the death, all the gospel will be in vain. So if anyone is raised with Christ
he is not the same person, he is a new creation. He is transformed and Christ lives
in him. His old life has gone and building up his new life through Jesus
Christ. He cannot depart from Christ. He is with God and doing the will of God.
2.
To
set our mind in above
In
verse 2 first parts says that, “Set
your mind on the things above,” As the scripture clearly says that, our mind
should not disturb by the worldly things. But as a human being we are limitless
desire. When we see something better than ours, we like to have what other
people have. Because we are jealous to our fellow friends, neighbor, etc. Instead
we have to look the above and see what the Lord want us to do. As
the children of God, We cannot live in our personal desire; we have to live according
to the will of God. So if we are change with Christ. Whatever we do or think, it
must be the will of the above. Our heart and mind must be always on above. We
need to rely on the riches of God in heaven.
3.
Leave
behind the world
“Do not on the things that are
on earth.” It is clearly says that, not to trust in the worldly things. When we
look at the world, there are different kinds of things can be seen, like
immorality, sexual pleasure, covetous etc? Living in the world we have to see
all the worldly things, and will lead us into lust. We have to think our selves
and trying to know what God want us to be, at the same time we have to rely on
God providence.
